Somos tres artistas originarias del continente americano (Anne Marie Sampaio, Paz Ortúzar y Lucy Cordes Engelman), nos conocimos el año 2019 mientras estudiábamos un Magister Avanzado en Investigación en Arte y Diseño (Sint Lucas Amberes, BE).
Nuestras prácticas individuales comparten una profunda inquietud por las palabras, narrativa, tiempo, los sistemas de creencias y la intuición. Juntas trabajamos como SAPLAB, un colectivo artístico que tiene como objetivo investigar narrativas paralelas a la historia oficial con el fin de descubrir y replicar nuevas formas de habitar nuestro planeta desde una perspectiva feminista, sustentable, mística y comunitaria. Además, coincidimos en una visión del espacio y la geografía como entidades políticas animadas y altamente cargadas. Como colectivo, estamos continuamente buscando nuevas formas de convivencia en el mundo actual para lo que desarrollamos una práctica intimamente conectada con las creencias humanas y sus diferentes expresiones.
We are three artists from the American continent(s) —Anne Marie Sampaio, Paz Ortúzar and Lucy Cordes Engelman—, we met in 2019 while studying an Advanced Master of Research in Art and Design (Sint Lucas Antwerp, BE).
Our individual practices share a deep care for words, narratives, time, belief systems and intuition. Together we work as SAPLAB, an artistic collective that aims to investigate narratives parallel to official history in order to discover and replicate new ways of inhabiting our planet from a feminist, sustainable, mystical and community-based perspective. Furthermore, agree on a view of spaces and geography as animate, highly charged political entities. As a collective, we are continuously searching for new ways of living together in today's world, for which we develop a practice deeply connected to human beliefs and their different expressions.
